Four-color Screen Printing Ink Product Descriptions

Ⅰ General statement

Four-color screen printing ink is a kind of printing method that enables continuous picture tone through the function of the four-color film stencil of tricolor (red, yellow and blue) and black color. This printing method has so many advantages such as: applicable in varied materials, rich in ink layers, bright in colors, suitable for large or small batch products etc. It is preferable for clothes, hand bags and adverting etc.

Ⅱ Common characteristics of four-color printing ink

1. Transparency:

The principle of tricolor color-building requires high transparency of the tricolor printing ink.

2. High thixotropy:

In order to guarantee the sharpness of the printings, any diffusion of printing ink points must be avoided. Therefore, the four-color printing ink for film stencil printing must has high thixotropy.

3. Slow curing character

In order to guarantee the exact re-appearance of tiny stencil dots, the drying speed of the four-color printing ink must be slow enough. Otherwise, it is easy to lose part of details caused by the block of tiny stencil dots.

Ⅲ Types of four-color printing ink

1.Categorized according to the object materials

① 53 series: Suitable for soft and hard PVC, PC, Acryl, Nylon cloth with white background, cotton cloth, paper, and so on. The weather-resistance period is 1 year for this series, and 2 years for 73 series, 3 years for 83 series.

② 58 series: Suitable for compound paper, OPP films, PET films, Yupo paper etc.

③ 26 series: Suitable for bubbled PS, ABS, PC, Acryl, etc.

2.Categorized according to light-resistance degree

① Indoors light-resistance degree is relatively low (degree 5): only used for indoor products.

② Outdoors light-resistance degree is relatively high (>degree 6): can be used for 1-2 years under normal outdoor conditions.

Ⅳ Selection of four-color printing ink and precautions:

1. Due to the daily updating materials and technologies of surface treatment, it is necessary to conduct a trial before application. This is the exact and only dependable method in choosing the printing ink.

2. Test of the sample in various kinds of characteristics is required so as to see whether they meet the requirements.

3. Due to the differences in drafts, color-divided sheet and printing halftone, proper use of special diluting transparent oil is generally required in adjusting the color thickness of the printing ink. And in some rare conditions, color adjusting is necessarily required for the demands of the printing. So far, there isn’t any four-color printing ink that can fully meet the requirements of any conditions.

4. Different series of four-color printing inks cannot be mixed or matched.

5. Four-color printing ink must be diluted with special oil-diluting water or special slow curing diluting agent for this series.
